Obituary of Sarah M. Slade

Age 88 of Herring Cove, passed away peacefully with family surrounding her on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the QEII Health Sciences Center after a brief illness. Born in Ship Harbour, she was a daughter of the late Eli and Edith M. (Martin) Pardy. Many activities kept Sarah busy; bowling, bingo or playing cards, and during baseball season, cheering on her Blue Jays. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her children, Winston "Smokey" (Linda), Jimmy (Carole), Peter (Ruth), Sharon (John Ehler), Penny (Patrick "Duke" West) all of Hailfax; sister, Nomia (Pat Drake) British Columbia. She will be greatly missed by her Grandchildren, Chris, Elizabeth, Johnny, Kevin, Krista, Leslie, Patrick, Roxanne and Sarah; Great Grandchildren, Jayce, Ethan, Jacob, Alyssa, Danielle, Nicholas, Alex, Nettie, Chase, Emma, Emily, Ashley, Tabatha, Cyndi, Dylan, Cody and Leland; Great-Great Grandchildren, Taylar, Noah, Devon, Hayden and Oliver; they were her joy in life. She will also be missed by her apartment companions Ruth and Donna, who looked out for each other, and spent many evenings in the common room doing puzzles or playing cards. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles Henry Slade; brother, James Pardy, and a daughter, Sandra in infancy. The family would like to thank the staff on 8.3, especially Dr. McLaren, for their kind and compassionate care during this difficult time. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, where visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 28 from 7-9 PM. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, December 29 at 1:30 PM from the Funeral Home Chapel, with a reception to follow. Interment will take place at a later date.  Donations to the QEII Foundation, IWK Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of choice.
