Janice L. Peach

Obituary of Janice L. Peach

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter and sister, Janice Peach. Janice was born on January 7, 1977 to parents, Florence and Kevin Peach of Glace Bay. Besides her parents, she leaves behind her two sisters and best friends, Kelly (Ben) and Andrea (Jordan). Also surviving is her dear friend Darlene MacKinnon who was more like a sister to her than a friend. In addition, Janice had many aunts, uncles and cousins from our large, extended family who will also miss her greatly. Janice was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Charles and Mary Curry and paternal grandparents, Brenton and Muriel Peach. Janice was a teacher. She taught for 2 years in England and 6 years in Hong Kong. During those years, she travelled extensively throughout Europe, Asia and Australia jamming a lifetime of adventure into a few short years. On her way home to Canada, she stopped in Kenya where she and a friend celebrated their overseas teaching by climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. She returned home to Nova Scotia where she taught in various schools in the Halifax area, making many great friends everywhere she went. She loved teaching and her students. She will be remembered for her innate ability to make people feel good just by being present. Her smile was infectious and she had a genuine affection for people in general and family and friends in particular who knew that in her they had someone who they could trust never to do them harm and be there whenever she was needed. She will be truly missed and never forgotten and will live in our hearts forever. As a family, we would like to thank her friends for the love they gave to her during her illness. Special thanks too to the staff of the gynecologic oncology unit of the Victoria General Hospital and Dr. Bentley whose great care gave us more time with her than we otherwise would have had. Visitation for friends and family will be held on Sunday, December 4 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax. A visitation will also be held at Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main Street, Glace Bay, on Tuesday, December 6 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ovarian Cancer Canada or a charity of choice.
