Obituary of William Gerald "Jerry" Cormier
Age 70, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2016 at the Admiral Long Term Care Facility.
Known as "Jerry", by family, he was born on April 26, 1946 in Sydney, Jerry was raised by loving foster parents, late Peter and Dora Sullivan of Sydney. He joined the military and as a member of the Canadian Guards he completed a tour of duty in Cyprus. He later joined the Department of National Defence and worked as a machine operator and tradesman at the Halifax Dockyard until his retirement. Jerry was a cherished resident of the Admiral LTCC Limited and the Glades Lodge Community. Along with enjoying country music and playing cards, he was very fond of reminiscing with staff and residents alike, about the time he spent with his comrades during his military career. His winning smile and great sense of humor will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Jerry is survived by foster sisters, Helen Isenor (Ross), Dartmouth; Mary Flemming (Arthur) Cape Breton; Violet Green (Ron), Ontario. He was predeceased by a foster brother, Leonard Sullivan (Anna).
Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd., where a funeral service will be held Monday May 30 at 10 a.m. Interment to take place on Tuesday May 31 at 2 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Cemetery Little Bras d’or.
