Obituary of Cyril Purcell

Purcell, Cyril Nelson- Age 87, of Portuguese cove, passed away March 2, 2016 in the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth, NS with his family at his side. Born in Portuguese Cove, he was a son of the late Ernest and Irene (Redmond) Purcell. Cyril was employed with Guilfords Ltd. as a Heat & Frost Insulator, Local 116 for over 35 years. He loved to trout fish, hunt and garden. Cyril is predeceased by his loving wife Joan (Cole) Purcell. He is survived by his son Murray (Darlene) Purcell, Portuguese Cove; daughters Wanda Purcell, Halifax, and Heather (Brian) Slaunwhite, Upper Sackville; grandsons Brad (Cindy) Purcell and Ian Purcell; great grandsons Leland and Trent Purcell, sister Venita Smith, Portuguese Cove. Cyril was also predeceased by sisters Thelma Davis, Alice Blom and Brothers Ross, Arthur and Vernon. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd, 149 Herring Cove Rd Halifax,NS Monday March 7, 2016 10:00 am from the funeral home chapel. Reception to follow in the funeral home lounge. Interment will be at St. David’s Anglican Cemetery, Portuguese Cove at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Windsor Elms Village 174 Dyke Rd, Falmouth Hants County, NS B0P 1L0. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Windsor Elms for their care, love and compassion which made Cyril’s stay with them one of contentment.
