Obituary of Rita Olive O'Connell

Age 93, of Halifax, passed away peacefully at Northwood Ivany Place on February 17, 2016. Born in Fortune Bay,  Newfoundland, Little Bay East on September 27, 1922, Rita was a daughter of the late John and Abigail Myles. Rita loved to knit, read, travel, gardening, animals and especially spending time with her friends and family, who will miss her dearly. She is survived by daughters Doris (Gary) Iverson, BC; Donna (Wayne) Flynn, Halifax; sons David  Nurse (Linda), Alberta; Barry (Judy) Nurse, Lower Sackville; Keith Nurse, Halifax; grandchildren Debbie, Annette, Paul, Steven, Robert and Laura; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and daughter in law Mary, Dartmouth. Rita was predeceased by her Husband Bernard; daughter Sandra Nurse; brothers Herb and Fred Myles as well as special friend Dudley Mingo. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude towards the staff and Dr. L Whynot at Ivany Place, Mayflower Point, for their exceptional care and compassion in looking after Rita during her stay. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd, 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, where a visitation will be held on Monday February 22 from 2-8pm. Private family interment to take place on Tuesday February 23 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
