Obituary of Joan Marie Dunnington (McDormand)

Age 77, Halifax, passed away peacefully December 3, 2015 at the Halifax Infirmary QEII. Born in Boston Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late William and Marie (Comeau) McDormand. Joan is survived by her loving husband Harry, whom would have been celebrating 60 years of marriage on May31, 2016; daughters, Donna; Denise Balcom (Doug), both of Halifax; sister June Tarry (Dave), Victoria, BC; granddaughters Shaylene and Shayna; grandson, Chandler; great granddaughter, Elizabeth and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd. where visitation will be Monday December 7 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral mass to be held Tuesday December 8 at 11 a.m. at St. John Vianney Church 4 Beaverbank Rd. Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Interment to take place in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery Lower Sackville. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses of the Halifax Infirmary 8.3 for the care given to Joan and a special thank you to Dr. Hugh Matheson, Robert Comeau and close friend Bessie and all of those who blessed her life.
