Obituary of Gwennie J. Soper

Gwen passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on June 14, 2015 at Melville Gardens Seniors Complex in Halifax, NS. at the age of 84. Mom's greatest joy was her family. Our greatest joy was the love we felt in her presence.  These feelings will continue for eternity and we celebrate her time now to be comfortable and pain free as she reunites with her husband and our father, Cec; thank you Mom and Dad. Your family is fine because of the roots of love and support you laid for us. We will work to continue to instill these roots with our families based on your values, spirits, senses of humor, and goodness. Mom was surrounded by her children and grandchildren in her final days and hours. We take comfort in knowing that she felt our love and gratitude for her unending kindness to all who had come to know her -  both in her life spent in Newfoundland and in the U.S., Kitchener-Waterloo, Ont., and finally in Halifax, NS. Left to cherish her memory is her children, Brenda (Pat), Robert (Denise), Donna (Gerald), Keith (Paula), and Michelle (Doug); grandchildren, Tara (Andy), Michael (Brigitte), Ian (Tania), Graeme, Grant (Jenny), Gina, Lana, Andrea (John), Vanessa (Brett), Renee, Krystina; great grandchildren, Xavier, Nicholas, and Sophia. Also leaving to mourn are brother, Art (Daphne), and sister, Shirley (Luke); dear sisters-in-law, Diane, Bernice and Della and their families. She was predeceased by her husband, Cecil; parents, Art and Mary Stockley; sisters, Rita and Rowena. To the tremendous staff at MelvilleGardens: your kindness, professionalism, and basic human concern for our mother in her times of great health challenges are appreciated beyond what our words can express. Mom's dignity remained until her final moments - you do incredible work everyday. God bless you all. Interment and a celebration of Gwen’s life will be held in St. John's, Newfoundland, in August of this year; time and place to be announced.
