Obituary of Catherine Ann “Kaye” Drysdale
Age 76, passed away peacefully at Vimy Court Nursing Home with her daughter and son by her side. Born in Elmsdale, Catherine was a daughter of the late Alf and Eleanor Nielsen.
Catherine is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Tim) Drysdale, Shorts Lake; son Michael (Greta), Harrietsfield; sisters Elizabeth McWilliams, Vancouver, and Emily St. Pierre, Ontario; brothers Earl (Nadia), Ontario; Bill (Patsy), Dartmouth; Jack (Betty Ann), New Brunswick; Alf (Jacqueline), Dartmouth and Harry (Evangeline), Vancouver; grandchildren Michael Murphy, Kristopher Drysdale, Kyle Drysdale and Brandon Drysdale; great grandchildren Michael Murphy Jr., Ethan Brady, Tihonnah Lynn Clayton and Nash Kristopher Oickle as well as many nieces and nephews. Catherine was predeceased by her husband Allan; brother Bernard Nielsen and sister Inga McInnis.
Catherine will be remembered for her quick wit and love for life. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her. She would keep herself busy by travelling or just by walking up herring cove road. Catherine would never be too far from her oldest and best friend of sixty six years, Mary Roach, who will miss "Kaye" dearly.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the VON nurses who looked after Catherine at home as well as a special thanks to the staff at Vimy court and the palliative care staff. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to her special niece Betty Ann Hatt whose visits always made Catherine happy.
Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd, Halifax, 477-5601. There will be no visitation by request and a funeral service will be held on Monday May 25 at 11am from St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church, Spryfield. Reception to follow. Private family burial to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, The Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of ones choice.
