Obituary of Katherine Ann Sutherland

Age 81, of Halifax, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2015 at the QEII Halifax Infirmary. Born in Halifax on November 10, 1933, Katherine was a daughter of the late James and Esther (Gammon) Gilbert. Katherine had a passion for bowling and was even in the top group of bowlers in Nova Scotia during her prime. Aside from bowling she was always up for a game of bingo and would spend many nights watching or listening to hockey. She will be remembered for her strong will and her love for life. Katherine is survived by her sons Raymond (Katrina), Calgary; Robert, Lower Sackville; James, Halifax; daughters Linda, Bedford; Carol Ann, Halifax; brother Bill (Genevieve), Victoria, BC, as well as eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Katherine was predeceased by her husband David Bruce Sutherland and siblings James, Marion and a sister in infancy. The family would like to thank the staff at the 6th floor Nephrology of the VG hospital, thanks to the staff of the Halifax Infirmary 8.2 as well as heartfelt gratitude to Michelle Jenson and Karen Verge for all of their hard work. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., Halifax. No visitation or service by request. Memorial donations can be made to the QEII Foundation care of the dialysis department.
