Obituary of Stephen Grant (CPO2, ret., RCN)

PLEASE BY ADVISED: CHANGE OF DATE FOR FUNERAL         The family of Stephen Thomas Grant of Halifax announces his passing at home at the age of 60 on March 13, 2015. Predeceased by his loving wife Danielle, and his parents Mary and Steve Grant; survived by his son Shaun (Tracy), granddaughters Samantha and Hannah, siblings Moira, Sheilagh (Joe), Phil, and Mike, and his nieces and nephews. Steve joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1978, served on multiple ships, and retired in 2005 after 26 years of dedicated service. A lifelong golfer, his passion was to drive the ball. When not playing golf, he could be found enjoying it from his favourite easy chair. A devoted husband, sailor, father, and grandfather, there was nothing he would not do for his family. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, N.S. B3P 1K6 on Tuesday, March 17, 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, March 20 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 14 St. Michael’s Avenue, Halifax, N.S.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to IWK Health Centre Foundation, to St. Michael’s Hospital (Toronto) Foundation in Mary Grant’s name, to QEII Health Sciences Centre Foundation, or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
