Obituary of Warrant Officer John Maurice Byrne
Age 86, Halifax, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2015 at Parkstone Enhanced Care. Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late Gerald and Agnes (Pilot) Byrne.
He had lived in Halifax for the past 60 years. He had served with the Canadian Armed Forces for 30 years until his retirement then, with Securitas Security as a guard for 30 years until retirement. He was a man who gave all he could and could find only good in all people, he gave to all charities and could never say no. He will be sadly missed by each and everyone of us and was dearly loved. He was strong in his faith, never wanting to miss a Mass, may he rest in eternal peace. A quiet and peaceful life he lived and oh how he loved his scratch tickets.
John leaves to morn his nieces and nephews; Gerald and Maurice Rideout, Robert Reedy, Stephen, Guy and Tim Quinn, Lorna Pelley, Barb Schmidt, Barbara Wheeler, Pam and Amy Quinn and their families, Christina Wilson and her family, Colleen (Kenneth) Boutilier, Suelynn Elbittar and Dennis Butler, Erich and Thomas Banfield and so many friends. He was predeceased by brother Gerald; sisters, Barbara Reedy, Elizabeth Quinn and Agnes Rideout.
Cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., in keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation or service.
We would like to say a special thank you to RJF Health Care Workers for the kindness and respect that they gave Mr. Byrne while they helped to care for him at home, they were a great comfort to John and our family, and to Parkstone Enhanced Care.
