Obituary of Judith Patricia Benson (Olie)

66, Cole Harbour, formerly of Spryfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Dartmouth General Hospital, surrounded by family and friends.  Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late William James and Elizabeth Pearl Olie. Judith worked at the Victoria General Hospital for many years. In her spare time she enjoyed camping, knitting and crocheting; but most of all she loved spending time with her grandkids and watching them grow. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Len; children, Peter (Mary Ellen) and Dawn (Simon); grandchildren, Josh, Carly, Chantel, Marcel; step grand-daughter, Loghan; brother, Douglas Olie; several nieces and nephews. Over the years Judith was a foster mom to 26 children. Arrangements are under the direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax. In keeping with Judith’s wishes there will be no visitation. A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, February 6 at 2PM from the funeral home chapel. Interment will take place in Fairview Lawn Cemetery. Following the interment a reception will be held at 290 Larry Uteck Blvd. Halifax at 4:30 p.m.. Memorial donations my be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Mainland Division Navy League/Cole Harbour Branch Navy League, P.O. Box 268 Shearwater, NS. B0J 3A0, receipts will be issued.
