Obituary of Shirley Helen Skinner (Foulkes)

Age 78, Halifax, passed away peacefully at home on January 28, 2015, surrounded by her family. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late William and Gladys (Maltus) Foulkes. Shirley was a treasured employee with Stock Transportation for many years and was dedicated to all children entrusted into her care. She is survived by her loving husband, Rudolph; son, William; daughters, Marilyn Bryden, Joanne Clarke  (Andrew), Mary Skinner, Donna Graham (Christopher), Joanna Hynes (Brett); brothers, William and Edward; sister, Elizabeth Grant; 16 grandchildren; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by son, Joseph; daughter, Christine Skinner; brother Michael; sisters, Cecilia Gorman and Muriel Edwards. Cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd. where visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on February 3. Service of remembrance  to be held at 10a.m. on February 4 from the funeral home chapel. Father Henry Ahorlu as celebrant. Reception to follow. Interment to take place at a later date. Memorial donations to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or The QEII Foundation Palliative Care Unit. Special thank you to the doctors and staff of the Palliative Care Unit and VON.
