Obituary of Catherine Mary Allen

Age 59, passed away peacefully December 4, 2014 at the QEII Halifax Infirmary Site. Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia on October 14, 1955, Catherine was the youngest daughter of Alexander and Alice (Anderson) MacDonald. Catherine was a caring and compassionate person who will be remembered for her quick wit, sense of humor and creative mind. Her door was always open to anyone who would want to engage in a conversation. She kept herself busy with many artistic outlets, her favourites being stained glass, making jewellery, painting and sewing. Anything could be turned into a piece of art when Catherine touched it. The neighborhood birds will miss the many bird feeders that Catherine would tend to on her property. She loved all animals, particularly cats, and had an amazing green thumb that came through in the many house plants and gardens she tended to. Catherine was very spiritual and always found herself in touch with nature. Her family is comforted in knowing that Catherine is in a better place now, free from suffering and at peace. Catherine is survived by her daughter April and son in law, Ian, Halifax; sisters Sandy, Ottawa, Miriam, Ottawa and Anne, Houston, TX; granddaughter Corrie; grandson Tyler; and husband David. Catherine was predeceased by her father Alexander. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker funeral Home (2005) Ltd, 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, where a celebration of life will take place on Thursday December 18, 2014 at 2pm in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in Catherine’s name can be made to the Lung Association of Canada or charity of your choice.
