Obituary of Alice Bernadette Melanson (Brown)

Age 87, passed away October 16, 2014, at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, with family by her side. Born February 11, 1927, in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Catherine Brown (Pelrine). She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Rafters, Helen (Gerald) Harris, Pauline (Nelson) Jenkins, Barb (Jeff) Fancy; sons, Gilbert (Joyce), Ken (Judy); grandchildren, Phillip Rafters, Mary (Mike) Paul, Jerry Harris, Stacey (Shawn) Challner, Troy Melanson, Jeffery (Juli) Melanson, Angela (Paul) McKeen, Bernadette Melanson (Jeff Conway), Kimberly Fancy, Justin Fancy; great-grandchildren, Andrew Rafters, Patrick Rafters, Kaylam Challner, Lexi Challner, Lauren Melanson, Brandon Henderson, Ryan Melanson, Kaitlyn Melanson; sister, Ethel Rowlands. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Gilbert; infant son David; brothers, Daniel, Herbert, Howard, Gerald and sister, Beaulah. Funeral arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Sunday, October 19. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Michaels Church, 14 St. Michaels Avenue.
