Obituary of Peter R. Griffiths

Griffiths, Peter Robert:  71, Halifax, passed away surrounded by his loving family on October 1, 2014, at the Halifax Infirmary, Halifax, NS.  Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Percy and Blanche (Bellefontaine) Griffiths.  Retiring in 2005, Peter had dedicated his life to the Halifax Waterfront and made his career as a stevedore for 40 years.  He loved all sports, but was an avid Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs fan.  His pride, however, was his grandchildren, whom he treasured, they were his world.  Peter will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.  He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Patricia "Pat" (Brackett), his son, Kenny (Darlene), his daughter, Sherry Watters (Kenneth), both of Halifax, and his sisters, Marie, Gays River, Liz, Ontario, and Elsie, Halifax., as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.  Grampy will forever be remembered by his cherished grandchildren, grandson, Alex, and granddaughter, Megan.  He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Johnny, Freddie, Ronnie and Harold "Dick", and sisters, Connie, Cecelia, Dolly, Sandra, and Margie.   Arrangements are under the care of JA Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (477.5601), where visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-8 PM.  The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 11 AM from the funeral home chapel.  Interment will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville, NS.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Nova Scotia Lung Association.  Words of comfort may be sent to the family by visiting www.walkerfh.com
