Obituary of Violet Rosemary Walton (O'Ree)

of Halifax, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2014, in Melville Lodge with her loving daughters by her side. Born on January 31, 1916 in Fredericton, NB., she was a daughter of the late Harry and Rosebud (Wright) O’Ree. Our mother was a past resident of Digby and enjoyed many years of working at the Children’s Training Centre until she retired at the age of 65. She was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary Group, Women’s Institute and was very well known through out the community. She was a member of Trinity Anglican Church, Digby and held a strong faith in God. Our mother was very fashionable and especially wearing her beautiful hats, she also enjoyed bingo, dancing and watching her favourite movies. She loved her family dearly as much as they loved her in return and will be greatly missed. She is the loving mother of Andrea and Angela, Halifax; Carol, Yorkton, SK; brothers, Willie, San Diego, CA.; Lewis, Edmonton, AB.; grandchildren; Erika (Rob); Lisa (Shawn), both of Edmonton, AB.; Raheman (Rachel), Calgary, AB.; Marcel Vasconcellos, Los Angeles, CA.; great grandchildren, Brayden, Jazmine, Raheman Jr. and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her former husband Ryland; beloved son, Winston; brothers, Richard, Robert, Alfred; sisters, Margaret, Thelma and Betty. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. (477-5601) 149 Herring Cove Rd., where visitation will be held Tuesday January 21 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.. Funeral service will be Wednesday January 22 at 2p.m. from the funeral home chapel, Rev. Gordon Relf officiating, reception to follow. Family flowers only. Interment will take place on Thursday January 23 in Forest Hill Cemetery St. Mary St., Digby at 2 p.m. Donations in our mother’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
