Obituary of Phoebe Ellen Stewart

84, Halifax, passed away quietly at Arborstone Enhanced Care, in Halifax on January 1, 2014.  Born in English Harbour East, Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late George E. and Amelia J. (Kearley) Dodge.  Ellen spent her life looking after family and friends and was known for her joy of cooking and baking.  She always loved a good game of cards.  Throughout her life, Ellen was loved by all who came to stay with her.  She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her sons, Ernie (Carol), Rawdon, NS, David (Esther), Maple Ridge, BC, and Roy (Debbie) Hatchet Lake, NS a brother, Edwin (Julie), Truro, 5 beloved grandchildren, Amanda, Tony, Alyssa, Amy, and Sean, as well as 3 great-grandchildren, Brendan, Alexander, and Camden, and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by husband, Ernest John, a sister, Sarah and brothers, William, Cecil, Stanley, John, George Thomas, and grandson, Max.  Ellen’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all the staff of Arborstone for all the care and kindness shown to her during her stay with them. Cremation has taken place under the care of JA Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, (477-5601).  The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 2PM in Emmanuel Anglican Church, Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, NS.  Interment will take place at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia, or charity of your choice.
