Obituary of James Reginald Slaunwhite
Age 83 of Terence Bay, NS passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2013 in the VG Site, QEII. He was a beloved brother, uncle and gentleman to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Known to most as Jim, Dick or Reg (or all 3 at once), he was a man of the community. Uncle Dick loved music. He played guitar, harmonica and accordion. He enjoyed kitchen parties, children, reading, history, and spending time with his friends at the SS Atlantic Heritage site. He was employed with National Sea Products in his earlier years. He will be sorely missed. He is survived by his sisters, Inez "Peggy" Little of Prospect, NS and Ruby McIsaac of Verdun, QC, along with many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, Eneitha and Ralph Slaunwhite; brothers, Gerald, Wallace (in infancy) and sister, Thelma. We would like to extend a special thank you to Monica Coolen, his home care worker. She took pleasure in taking care of him, visiting with him and making his life special. We would also like to thank the nurses and doctors of 6 A/B at the VG for their care and support during his short visit with them. In keeping with Uncle Dick's wishes, there will be no visitation or service. A burial will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the SS Atlantic Heritage site in Terence Bay.
