Obituary of Garnet D. Kent

  Age74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, with his loving family by his side. Born in Halifax he was the son of the late Roderick A. and Sarah "Sadie" (Conrod) Kent. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Donna E. (Armsworthy) of 53 years; daughters, Lynn (Greg) and Jennifer; sons, Larry, Darren (Susan); sister, Pat Chevier; grandchildren, John, Tara, Katelyn, Mitchell and Gillian; great grandchildren Layla, Madelyn, Carter and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Robert Kent; sister, June Amyotte and grandson Michael Garnet Kent. Garnet loved his job in trucking for over 50 years. He began his career with Canadian National. Also working at Smith’s Transport and Canadian Pacific Express, Garnet was with Armour Transport for the last 19 years. Garnet loved spending time outdoors.  Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax (477-5601). Visitation will be held on December 9, 2013 at 11am-1pm followed by a service of remembrance at 1pm officiated by Rev. Gordon Relf in the funeral home chapel. Reception to follow. Interment will take place at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations in Garnet’s memory may be made to SPCA or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
