Obituary of Helen M. Bradshaw
Age 98, Halifax, passed away peacefully in the Halifax Infirmary QEII, on Monday October 14, 2013. Born in Little Beach, NB., October 5, 1915, Helen was the eldest daughter of the late John and Vera McCue.
Mom had several jobs- cooking for lumberjacks, serving in the Red Cross during WWII, hairdressing, selling Avon products, working at United Cigar store, but the jobs she was most proud of was raising her four children with her husband. Helen lived on her own for a dozen years before going to Maplestone Nursing home in August 2012. She had a love for life, enjoyed a good joke, and music, among her favourites, Lionel Richie and Michael Bolton, who she saw in concert a few years ago.
Helen was predeceased by her husband Lawson, better known as "Brad"; brothers, Don and Stuart. She is survived by her sisters, Lila and Dorothy; brother, Jim; daughters, Shirley (Gary Seeley), Florence (Jim Billard); sons, Ray (Anna Doucette), and John (Shelly Noseworthy); grandchildren, Suzanne, Geoff, Kim Rodger, Kim Parker, and Samantha; daughter-in-law Elaine, great grandchildren Claire and Lauren, and long time friend Tina Newman.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd. where visitation will be held Saturday October 19, from 12-1 p.m., with funeral service to follow at 1p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen’s memory to Feed Nova Scotia.
