Obituary of John Thomas Cook

Harrietsfield. It is with deep sadness that the family of John Thomas Cook announce his passing on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Halifax Infirmary, QEII.  Born November 19, 1964 in Halifax, just 48 years old, John is the son of John and Mary Cook (Welcher), Newcombville. John spent his time being instrumental as an advocate for medicinal marijuana having co-founded the Maritimers Unite for Medical Marijuana (MUMM). He was also Director of the Halifax outlet, Cannabis Buyers Club of Canada. John was a courageous man and a very special person.  He was an amazing husband, father, son, and friend. He was such a kind, loving man who was so full of integrity, empathy and understanding for others. John was selfless and compassionate to anyone who needed help. John had a heart of gold and  his proudest accomplishment was being a father to Megan and Hannah. He is survived by his high school sweetheart, Krista Cook (Dorey) and their two amazing daughters, Megan and Hannah; his mother and father, John and Mary Cook; sister Darlene Kirkwood (Cook) and brother Chris Cook. A reception is being held In John’s honour on Thursday, Sept. 5th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd.
