Obituary of Liselotte "Lise" Fillmore
Age 70, Lise died peacefully at home in Halifax on August 26, 2013, surrounded by loving family. Born in Murich, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Fritz and Elisabeth Halder, Menningen, Germay.
She and Keith met in Paris, France in 1963 and were married a year later in Kampala, Uganda. After a stay in Vancouver, they moved to Halifax in 1970. She obtained a B.A. from St. Mary’s University and a B.Ed and M.Ed from MountSt. VincentUniversity. She Taught languages at MSVU, as well as French to pre-schoolers. A strong promoter of multi-lingualism, she was fluent in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. She was an active member of the German Canadian Association. For many years she volunteerd at the NS. Museum of Natural History. She Belonged to the "WWWW" womens hiking group and the Folkdancers Association of NS. She loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hiking, cycling, swimming, skiing and outdoor skating. Widely known for her boundless energy and cheerful helpful nature, she will be greatly missed by family and many, many friends.
She is survived by her husband Keith, children Patricia (Jean-Francois), Montreal; Lawrence (Sharon), Halifax; Charlotte (Ryan), Halifax; Monica (Jason), Vernon, B.C.; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also by sisters-in-law Elizabeth Etter and Lydia Halder, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins in Germany. She was predeceased by brothers Rolf and Fritz.
Cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd. (477-5601), where visitation will be held Friday August 30 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. Burial by family in the Mahon cemetery, GreatVillage. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date
