Obituary of Patrick "Pat" J. Greenwood
Greenwood, Patrick James Jr. - 50, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at home, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Halifax, he was a son of Patrick Greenwood Sr. and the late Ethel (Rhodenizer).
For about 16 years, Pat had been a Longshoreman in the ILA, Local 269. He had also been a plow operator with the Department of Highways. Pat was an avid hunter and fisherman, but above all, he was a family man, a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and great-uncle.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Jeanne (Cranidge), his two beloved daughters, Katrina Cranidge and Nadine (Mike) Evans; his treasured grandchildren, Mitchell, Jacob and Natalee; sisters, Darlene (Paul) Davis, Sharon Hogue, and Diane (Gerry) Boudreau; nieces, Alicia Hogue and Lisa Giffin; nephews, Matthew Hogue and Wayne Giffin, and a special great-niece, Brooklynn. Pat was predeceased by his mother, Ethel, and brother, Stephen Giffin.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Corey MacKenzie for going above and beyond his call of duty and for his compassionate care and support.
Cremation has taken place under the care of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, (477-5601). In keeping with Pat’s wishes there will be no visitation. A service of remembrance will be held in the chapel on Monday, August 5, 2013 at 1 PM with Rev. John den Hollander as officiant.
