Obituary of Bruce Albert Thompson

of Halifax, passed away at the age of 82 on July 25, 2013. Bruce was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion and was survived by sons Wallace "Wally" (Kim), Ketch Harbour NS; Bruce (Eyvette), Edmonton, AB; Brien, Edmonton, AB; Lyle, Kelowna BC; Daughters Kathleen Gavacs, Halifax; Joy (Don) Higgins, Edmonton AB; Donna (Michael) Czarka, Edmonton, AB. Bruce will be remembered by his 16 grandchildren Amy, Tamara, Joshua and Kendra Thompson; Vanessa and Cory Higgins; James Thompson-Gavacs; Gloria and Steven Gavacs; Nicholas and William Paul; Stephanie Mischa-Thompson; November Enosse-Thompson, Axl Enosse-Thompson; Dakota Rose; Daryle Brown. He was also survived by 4 great grandchildren, his former wife Norma Theresa Thompson and brother Robert Thompson. Bruce was predeceased by brothers Wallace Baxter, and Frederick George; sister Joyce Kent; and parents Wallace Bruce and Alice May Thompson. Bruce was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces in the Royal Canadian Navy and eventually pursued a career in the Commissionaires. Visitation will be held from 12:00pm-2:00pm  Monday July 29, 2013 followed by a service of remembrance at 2:00pm in the J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Chapel, 149 Herring Cove Rd. Spryfield (477-5601) with Major Kirk MacLeod officiating. A reception will take place following the service at the Spryfield Legion Branch 152 from 3:30pm-5:00pm.
