Obituary of Thomas Murray "Tom" Brennan
67, Enfield, formerly of Spryfield, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on June 27, 2013 at the QEII, VG Site. Born in Halifax he was the son of the late Hector and Ida (Westhaver) Brennan of Spryfield.
Tom was a great family man, he loved to spend time with family and friends and having great conversation. He loved music, reading, puzzles and sports. He was actively involved and volunteered in his community, having served as President of Chebucto Minor Hockey and as Treasurer of Spryfield Minor Softball Association. Tom was a hard worker, starting his entire career with the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission, starting as a clerk and after a 30 year career retired in 1997 as the Director of Store Operations.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Gloria (Bourque), sons, Shawn (Christine), Elmsdale and Ryan (Cherie), Halifax; sister, Sylvia (Joseph) Malcolm, Dartmouth and brother, Gordon (Cindy) Brennan, Edmonton, Alberta; grandchildren, Reilly, Patrick, Isabella and Clara. Tom is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Joan and brother, Hector both in infancy.
Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. (477-5601), 149 Herring Cove Rd, where visitation will be held on Sunday, June 30 from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday, July 1 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 2 at 10 a.m. in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Fr. Frank Pellerin as celebrant. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment to take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Donations in Tom’s memory can be made to the VG Site Palliative Care 7A or Medical Day Unit 4th Floor.
