Obituary of Paulette Grace Parsons
68, Fergusons Cove, passed away February 3, 2013 in the V.G. Site, QEII. Born in North Sydney, she was a daughter of the late William and Yvonne (Bragg) Fiander. Paulette was a member of St. Phillips Anglican Church and a life long resident of Fergusons Cove from the age of two. She graduated from Vocational School with a certificate of bookkeeping. Following her graduation, she started working as a bookkeeper for Nima Brothers Jewellers of Dartmouth, she then worked for the Spryfield Lions Rink for 36 years until her retirement. Paulette was an avid quilter, knitter, crotcheter and sewer, loved camping at the trailer in Ardoise, was treasurer for St. Phillips Church for over 20 years, loved baking, her whipped shortbread, plum pudding and fruitcake were loved by all. One of the highlights of her life was her trip to Rome with her dear friend Dossie Lawrence. Mom always loved Christmas and having everyone over for dinner; her tree always looked its best, especially after the tinsel was put on one strand at a time. She took great pleasure in her grandchildren and was so proud to have a granddaughter (Grace), named after her. Paulette loved flowers, even if she didn’t have the greenest thumb. Dedicated to helping her neighbors, friends and family, Paulette could be counted on no matter what. Paulette will be sadly missed by her loving husband Douglas, who could not have taken any better care of his loving wife; sons, Scott (Tina), Herring Cove; Christopher (Robyn) Fergusons Cove; daughter Heather McLean (Don), Herring Cove; brothers, Cory (Joan), Fall River; Gordon (Kellie), Sheet Harbour; Gower (Cindy), Brookfield; Melvin (Janette), Bedford; sisters, Judy Dickenson (Doug), Bev Covey (John), Leila Fiander, all of Halifax; Bertie Lou Fiander, Debert; Deanna Fiander (Joe), Dartmouth; grandchildren, Grace, Stephen, Olivia, Shauna and numerous nieces and nephews. (477-5601). No visitation by request. A memorial service will be held on Friday February 8, at 11a.m. from St Augustine’s Anglican Church Purcells Cove Rd., reception to follow. Interment to take place at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Diabetes Association.
