Obituary of Walter "Frank" Fisher
85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 28, 2012. Frank was born in Stewiacke on April 2, 1927. He was the son of the late Adam and Blanche (Gourley) Fisher.
Frank worked at Maritime Accessories 23 years, Auto Parts APM, 19 years. He was faithful to his volunteer commitments, giving freely of his time and talents to help others in the community; having been a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Church, serving on many boards and as treasurer. He was the Founding Director of Family Resources Institute and he and his wife, Ruth spent over 20 years volunteering at the N.S. Eye Care Centre, for which they were honored for their energy and enthusiasm to help others.
Frank is survived by wife, Ruth (Smith) of almost 60 years; daughter, Valerie (Craig) Keddy; son, Lloyd (Sherri) Fisher; grandchildren, Todd (Meredith), Joey (Sarah), Angela, Chantel, Jeanette and Adam; great-granddaughter, Ella; brothers, Lee (Pam), Bill (Betty); sisters, Shirley (Lorne), Margie (Amos), Jean (Robert), Karen (Denvert), Juanita (Jim), Charlotte (Robert); sister-in-law, Mary-Ann and brother-in-law, Gerald Wright; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Alden; sister, Janet and grandson, Brandon in infancy.

Arrangements are under the care of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Wednesday July 4th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A service celebrating Frank’s life will be held on Thursday July 5th at 11 AM in St. Paul’s United Church, 173 Old Sambro Road, Spryfield, Rev. Jeanne Manning Stright officiating, with a reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery, Stewiacke East. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory can be made to St. Paul’s United Church, Spryfield.
