Obituary of Dorothy Catherine White

WHITE, (Yeadon) Dorothy Catherine  – 78, Halifax, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Saturday, April 14, 2012 in the QEII Health Sciences Center. Born in Spryfield, she was a daughter of the late William (Yeadon) and Winifred (Jarrett) Yeadon. Dorothy worked for many years as a House Mother at the Home of the Guardian Angel and subsequently in Toronto at the Rosalie Hall Home for Unwed Mothers. She loved to bake and she was a Mother to all, welcoming everyone into her home with open arms whether she knew them or not. No one would ever leave hungry, her spaghetti and banana bread was the talk of the White’s house. Dorothy’s faith was important to her as was her family. She will lovingly be remembered and never forgotten by her children, Kevin, Kerry, Kim, Karen, and Kara; Daughters and Sons in Law, Laurie,  Pam, and Darren. Grandchildren, Jason, Skylar, Justin, Alicia, Keanu, Tristin and Troy; former sons in-law, Danny and Troy; brothers, Billy, Bernie, and Ronald Yeadon Sister in Law Nancy; as well as her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred White and 11 siblings. Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax (477-5601), where visitation will be held today, April 17 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 18 at 11 AM from the funeral home chapel, with a reception to follow. Private family burial. Donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
