Obituary of Philip Basil Kirkwood

68 – Herring Cove, passed away suddenly at home on Monday March 5, 2012. Born in Purcell’s Cove, he was the son of the late Basil and Angieline (LeRue) Kirkwwod. Philip was employed with the Halifax Shipyard for 47 years as an electrician. He was a very dedicated and loving grandfather and he enjoyed spending time with his family and taking walks at Point Pleasant Park with his companion, Carol Gray. Philip will be sadly missed by all. He is survived by his former wife, Ashlea (Kirkwood) Adams; son, Kevin (Michelle); daughter Caralea ( Darell Dempsey); Darlene (Kraig Keddy); grandchildren, Tiffany, Alicia, Devyn, Dillin and Owen. He was predeceased by a sister Carol. Arrangements are under the care of J.A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd. (477-5601) , where a memorial service will be held Thursday March 8 at 1p.m., Rev. Dianna Frye officiating, with reception to follow. Interment to take place in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Donations in memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
