Obituary of Frederick Nelson Wiswell

WISWELL, Frederick Nelson "Fred" – 77, Halifax. It is with heavy hearts and the greatest of sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished husband, father and grandfather, on Monday, January 9, 2012, from the cruel disease Alzheimer’s. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late, William and Alice (Hudson) Wiswell. Fred served with the RCHA and served overseas in Korea. Following retirement from the services he worked as an engineer in the boiler-room at the VG for 31 years. He then went on to work as a Commissionaire for 4 years. He was a devoted family man who was most content when spending time with family. He dearly loved and will be missed by his little cat Babes. Fred will be missed beyond words. He will lovingly be remembered and never forgotten by his wife, Doreen (Lynch); children, Danny and Darlene; grandchildren, Coral and Douglas; brothers, Everett (Marion) and Harry; sister, Florence; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his twin granddaughters; brother, Robert; sisters, Marg, Bernice and baby Lorraine.  Special thanks to Dr. Matheson who was always there for the family and to the staff of Crowells Pharmasave for their care and support. Arrangements are under the direction of J.A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax (477-5601), where a memorial service will be held on Friday, January 13 at 2 PM. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Donations in Fred’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia.
