Obituary of Sheila Mary Mommy Sheila Dixon

DIXON, Sheila Mary – 66, Halifax, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 31, 2011. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Mary (Creelman) Westlake. Affectionately known as “Mommy Sheila”, she was an avid bingo player and loved watching wrestling. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who will be dearly missed. She is survived by husband, Joseph; sons, Bill, Dewayne (Leslie) and James (Grace Anne) Keating; step-daughters, Tina (David) Beaton and Patricia (Robert) Dixon; grandchildren, Sabrina, Sondra Lynn, Courtney, Kassondra, Brandon and Logan Keating, Kevin, Tyler and Brett Beaton, Taylor Dixon; brothers, Fred (Alice), Jack and Reg Westlake; sisters, Barbara (Gordie) Darr and Diane Westlake; brothers and sisters in-law and extended family. She was predeceased by son, Douglas Keating; daughter, Valerie Keating; granddaughter, Kerri-Lee Dixon. By request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 6 at 1 PM in St. Paul’s United Church, Rev. Jeanne Manning Stright officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
