Obituary of Olive Viola Covey
COVEY, Olive Viola âOllieâ â 89, Halifax, passed away April 30, 2011, in Melville Lodge. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Angus and Carrie McMullin. Ollie was a loving wife, mother, and grand-mother. She will be remembered as a caring and compassionate woman who loved conversation and a good game of cards. Family social gatherings were special to her. Ollie retired as a Department Manager at The Bay. She also worked at Wood Brothers, Eatonâs, and Simpsonâs Ltd. She was always well-respected and professional in her work. In later years, she enjoyed summers at the trailer and playing golf in the Valley with her sister and friends. Ollie always enjoyed traveling especially the international vacations she took with her husband. She is survived by her son Frank Covey (Barbara MacDonnell); 2 grand-children, Clint (Red Deer) and Dustin (Toronto); sister, Sadie (Howard) Smith; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by Frank, her husband of 60 years; and sisters, Margaret and Mamie. Special thanks to all the Melville Lodge Staff who cared for Olive over her 5 year residency. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of J. Albert Funeral Home Ltd., Spryfield (477-5601). A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2011, Emmanuel Anglican Church, Herring Cove Rd., Spryfield. Interment will follow the service.
