Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Gratto

91, Halifax, NS, passed away on May 8, 2011 at the New Halifax Infirmary, Halifax, NS. Born in Inverness, Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (MacKay) MacQuarrie. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mary was a lady with deep Christian faith who loved her family and church family dearly. She had worked as a practical nurse in various capacities, retiring from private nursing. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Bradford (Grovenor), Fredericton, NB, sons, Pastor Tony (Dorothy), Halifax, and Lloyd, Fredericton, as well as treasured grandchildren, Prenia, Kevin, Mark, Pastor John, Pastor Wade, and Susanne, and 11 cherished great-grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Carl, brother, Charles MacQuarrie, sister, Ann MacQuarrie, and brother, Peter in infancy. Arrangements are under the care of JA Walker Funeral Home (2004) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (477.5601), where visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 11 AM from the funeral home chapel, with Pastor John Meehan and Pastor John Gratto as clergy.
