Obituary of Ronald Walter Haslund

68, Halifax. Beloved husband of Elaine, father of Dawn and Tracy (Kel) Cowper, Papa Bear to Kye and Kody, treasured brother of Arlene (Roy) Charette, Sudbury, Ont. He was received into God’s loving embrace on Thursday, July 14, 2011. Ron was a good and faithful servant of God as a member of Indian Harbour United Baptist Church and a 25 year member of our Royal Canadian Navy in Ottawa, Shelburne and Halifax. Ron was born April 19, 1943 to the late Archie and Phyllis Haslund in Inwood, Manitoba. Ron was a co-creator with God in his gifted ability to create objects of beauty from recycled materials like string, cigarette packages, wood, even dirt. Ron and Elaine lived their lives with a joy for communion, moments with their beloved family and friends. Those moments have inspired Ron’s request for no flowers. You can honor Ron with donations to Parkinson’s Association or Food Bank. Elaine, Dawn, Tracy and Arlene will receive condolences and visitors at J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Halifax (477-5601) on Monday, July 18 at 1 p.m. A celebration of Ron’s life will follow at 2 p.m., from the funeral home chapel, with Rev.
