Obituary of Stanley Nelson Wournell
Wournell, Stanley Nelson: 73, Spryfield, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, July 17, 2011. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Thomas and Eileen âMaryâ Wournell. Stan was raised in Spryfield. Throughout his life, he had been employed with the Canadian Coast Guard, and then with Spryfield Taxi. Stan is survived by son, Stanley Jr. (Lauren), Halifax, daughters, Karen Wournell (Scott), Halifax, Susan Ross (Brian), Innisfil, ON, Cathy Towill-Wournell (Rose), Canning, NS, and Jean Wournell, Halifax; sisters, Susan âSusieâ White, Calgary, AB, and Brenda Wournell (Arthur), Williamswood; brothers, Eddy, Halifax, Paul, Halifax, David (Sue), Herring Cove, and Wayne, Shad Bay; granddaughters, Jamie Ross and Jessica Wournell, grandson, Gary Ross; great-granddaughter, Emma Ross; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Patricia, his brother, Sonny, and a brother-in-law, Harry White.
Arrangements are under the care of JA Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (477.5601), where visitation will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2011 from 1 to 2 PM. A memorial service will follow the visitation in the funeral home chapel at 2 PM, with Rev. Dianna Brett-Frye as officiating clergy. A reception will take place following the service at Stanâs home, 629 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield. The family would appreciate donations be made to the family in memory of Stan.
