Obituary of Alvina M. Musolino
Musolino, Alvina Marjorie: 85, Spryfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 21, 2011. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Douglas and Carrie (Hartlen) Smith. In 1951, she opened Alvinaâs Nurseries Flower Shop on Dentith Road, later moving to Herring Cove Road. Alvina ran this local business as owner and operator until her retirement in 1988. She will lovingly be remembered and sadly missed by her children, Doreen (Don), Eugene (Sandra), Angelo Jr., Randall (Barb), Gary (Paula), Darrell (Susan), and Michele âShelleyâ, daughter-in-law, Janice, 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, with two more on the way, and 11 grand animals. She is also survived by sisters, Roxie (Bernard), and Veda, both of Halifax, and Ina (Ron), Ontario, many nieces and nephews, as well as many special friends. Alvina was predeceased by her parents, first husband, Angelo, her second husband, John, brother, Douglas Smith Jr., sisters, Marion, Shirley, and Estelle, a daughter-in-law, Patsy, granddaughter, Lisa, and her great-granddaughter, Laura.
Cremation has taken place under the care of JA Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (477.5601), where visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A memorial service celebrating Alvinaâs life will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 11 AM from the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Dianna Brett-Frye as clergy. A reception will follow the service. Interment will take place at a later date.
