Obituary of Leona Margaret Kelly

89, formerly of Spryfield, passed into the arms of our Saviour, November 25, 2011 in the Halifax Infirmary QEII. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late George and Philomene (McPhee) Oakley. She is survived by; sons, Wayne (Edna), Claude, George (Beth), John (Pushpa “Rosy”), Edward (Linda), Patrick; daughters, Carole Lanthier (Denis), Leona Oakley (Jim), Mary Fitzgerald (John), Claudia Peterson (Buddy), Marsha Lacroix (Gerry), Cathy Fish (Bobby), Karen Connor (David), Tina Boyd (Vern); brother, Kenny (Leona); sisters Genora MacGregor, Ida Kline; 29 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. Leona was predeceased by her husband Claude; brothers, Pius, David, Edwin, Richard, Granville and Stanley; sisters, Cecilia, Jean; a grandson and a granddaughter, both in infancy. Arrangements are under the care of J.A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd. (477-5601) where visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today, November 28. Funeral mass will be held from St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Mumford Rd. at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, Father John Williams as celebrant, reception to follow. Interment to take place in the Gate Of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Family flowers only, donations in memory may be made to a charity of choice.
