Obituary of Anne Strickland
97, Halifax, passed away March 8, 2011 surrounded by her family,in Arbourstone Enhanced Care. Born in Piccarie, NF, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Susan (Pickett) Coombs. She was a member of the Emmanuel Anglican Church, and a past member of the ACW and had been employed with the School for the blind for years. She loved to knit and watch her favourite Toronto Maples Leafs. She is survived by sons; Matthew (Barbara), Bedford; Jimmy (Alma), Sackville; William “Bill”, Halifax; Russell (Mary Sue), Moncton; daughters; Donna Marchand (Douglas) and Susan Boultilier (Edward) both of Halifax; grandchildren Lena, Denise, Darrin, Cathy, Jeff, Russell, Dougie, Jason, Joey, Katie, Spencer, Mark; step grandchildren Stephanie, Denise, Mallory; great grandchildren Allyssa, Tara Lyn, Carly, Shelby, Brendon, Gavin, Lauryn, Reid and several nieces and nephews. Annie was predeceased by husband Matthew; brother Albert, William “Bill”; sisters Bertha, Jane and Lilly. Arrangements under the care of J.A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd. (477-5601), where visitation will take place 2-4 & 7-9 Friday March 11. Funeral service to be held 2 p.m. Saturday March 12 from Emmanuel Anglican Church Spryfield, Rev. Dianna Frye officiating, Reception to follow in church hall. Interment to take place in the spring in Emmanuel Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
