Obituary of Shirley Hutchinson

… Halifax, NS. Born in Sturgeon, PEI on March 11th ,1934, and passed away on January 27, 2011 at age 76. She was a daughter of the late Norman and Christina (Hicken) MacKinnon and predeceased by her brother, Ken. She is survived by her loving husband Douglas Hutchinson, daughter Cheryl, sons, Harley, Scott (Paula), and Raymond, sister, Mabel Dunn of PEI, and grandchildren (Jacqueline, Douglas, and Mitchell). A long-time employee at Sears, Shirley loved gardening, music, singing and dancing. A devoted wife and mother, Shirley’s great sense of humour which she maintained until her last days will be greatly missed. With a positive outlook on life and a smile for everyone, Shirley has left us with the most wonderful memories of a well-lived life. Our hearts are filled with gratitude. Visitation will take place at JA Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (902.477.5601) on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral will be held on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 11 AM from St. Paul’s United Church, 173 Old Sambro Road, Halifax, NS, with Rev. Jeanne Manning Stright officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
