Obituary of Gordon Gerald "Jerry" Smith

71, Duncan’s Cove, passed away peacefully Tuesday September 21,2010 in the QE II V.G. Site. Born in Herring Cove, he was a son of the late Gordon and Myrtle (Holland) Smith. Jerry enjoyed camping, hunting in Nine Mile River and South Rawdon. He spent many happy years there with his good friends. He enjoyed fishing off the water of his home in Duncan’s Cove with his sons. Later years he enjoyed gardening and dancing at the Spryfield Legion. Jerry worked for Pelton Co. for 18 years, then started his painting company. Jerry is survived by his loving wife Gloria (Raftus); sons, Ronald (Pamela), Frederick (Ruth),both of Calgary, AB. ;sisters, Wanda White (Doyle), Lower Sackville, Sandra Bartraw (Brian), Ottawa, ON.; grandchildren, Eric Organ, R.J. Jr.; great-grandson Cole, all of Calgary AB.; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother Ronald. Cremation has taken place under the care of J.A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd. (477-5601) where visitation will be held Saturday September 25, 2010,10a.m.…12p.m., followed by funeral service at 12 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Reception to follow service in the funeral home. Interment to take place at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
