Obituary of Marilyn Brewer
Brewer, Marilyn Catherine: 79, Halifax, passed away peacefully with
family by her side on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the New Halifax
Infirmary, QEII. Born in Verdun, Quebec, she was the
daughter of the late John Emmerson and Mary Lillian
(Lessard) Carroll. Marilyn loved her family dearly and will be
remembered as a very caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother and friend to many. She was a great cook, loved to
sew, and enjoyed all animals. She enjoyed music and played the piano
from a very early age. From her youth, she enjoyed many summers at
Haliburton Lodge, where she developed a passion for the ocean and the
outdoors, always enjoying swimming and camping. For many years, Marilyn
was employed at the VG Site, QEII, as a ward clerk, from where she
retired. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Edward, son,
Mark (Charlene), Harrietsfield, daughters, Kathleen Murphy (Richard),
Phoenix, AZ, Pauline Higgins (Thomas), Brookfield, NS, Christine
Puigmarti (Mark), Port Perry, ON, and Marlene White (Robert), Halifax,
NS, as well as 16 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, many cousins,
nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Emmerson, John, and
Irving, a daughter, Maureen, and a son, Eddie.
Arrangements are under the care of JA Walker Funeral Home
(2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (477.5601), where a
memorial service will take place on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 1 PM
from the funeral home chapel. Interment will take place at Fairview Lawn
Cemetery, Halifax. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate
remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes
