Obituary of Michael John Ryan

RYAN, Michael "Mike" John- Age 86, of Halifax, passed away on June 12, 2026, at Hospice Halifax.

Born in Port Hawkesbury on July 30^th, 1939, he was the son of the late Henry Ryan and Mary Ann (McDonald) Ryan. Mike attended St. Patrick’s High School and was employed for 37 years at CFAD Bedford (Magazine). He loved spending time with family and his favorite place to be was at the cottage, enjoying the peace and tranquility there.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary; son, Michael (Pauline); daughter, Kelly; cherished grandsons, Matthew and Brady; brothers, Donald (Betty) and Henry Jr (Dorothy); sisters, Gladys Irving and Connie Anderson (Tom); brother-in-law, Ronald Ryan (Mary); and many nieces and nephews.  Mike was predeceased by his sister, Judy Harris, brother-in-law, Kenneth Irving.

Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax.  In keeping with Mike's wishes, there will be no visitation.  A funeral mass will take place at Saint Agnes Roman Catholic Parish, 6903 Mumford Rd, Halifax, NS B3L 0A4 on Friday June 19th, 2026, at 10 a.m.  Following the funeral mass there will be a reception at the Church Hall.  An interment will take place after the reception at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to be made, in Mike's honour, to Hospice Halifax or the Canadian Cancer Society.
