Obituary of Elizabeth Louise Publicover

PUBLICOVER, Elizabeth Louise – 85, died March 1st, 2026, at QEII  Victoria General Site. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Marion (Martin) Publicover. She lived in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Montreal, Quebec, and Toronto, Ontario. In Montreal she trained and graduated from The Queen Elizabeth Hospital of Montreal School for Nursing Assistants. In Toronto she attended Ryerson University. She was elected Director, Greater Sackville Community Council, Sackville, Nova Scotia, three consecutive one-year terms and was appointed Chairman, Transit Committee, Greater Sackville Community Council. The Transit Committee later included representatives from the Bedford Service Commission. The Committee secured public transportation for Bedford and Sackville. She was a consultant to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation and authored reports for two studies she did for the Corporation on mobile homes. The reports went to the Canadian and United States Governments. In keeping with her belief in conservation and preservation of Nova Scotia heritage, she donated a large number of family heirlooms to Lordly House Museum in Chester, Nova Scotia. She was a keen gardener and had a strong involvement with her native plants which she preserved in great numbers. No visitation upon request. A graveside service be held on June 19, 2026, at 10 a.m. in St. Barnabas Anglican Church Cemetery, Blandford, Nova Scotia. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to St. Barnabas Church.
