Obituary of Jacqueline "Jackie" Thibodeau

Thibodeau, Jacquelyn Joyce "Jackie"- It is with heavy hearts that Jackie’s family announces her passing on July 5, 2012 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in Halifax on September 11, 1937, she was the daughter of the late James and Marion Gage. For Jackie, not unlike a lot of people from that era, started work early in life. Her first job was as a waitress, to Moir’s, Nickerson and Crease, Sears Store and finally before retiring she worked at St. Thomas Aquinas. She was an avid swimmer and could, it seems, swim for ever. She was responsible for saving a life on more than one occasion in near drowning incidents. She was asked if she would like to train for long distance swimming but could not, due to work commitments. She was a long standing volunteer at the City Church and loved helping people. Her greatest accomplishment however was her dedication to family and friends. If Jackie loved you, it was for life, if she didn’t, you knew about it. She was soft spoken but could "get your attention" if necessary. She is survived by her husband, Willie Thibodeau, son, Mike Le Lacheur, sisters; Sheila Robichaud, Betty Hazeldine, Donna Ryan, Lea Pye, brother Ken Gage, granddaughters; Yevonne and Kelsey Le Lacheur.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 9 at 11 a.m. from City Church, 276 Herring Cove Road, Halifax,  reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to City Church or the QEII Stroke Foundation.
